HGV / LGV Driver Training Introduction

This course is aimed at people who wish to learn the skills necessary not only to meet, but surpass the standards set by the Driving Standards Agency, Department of Transport for LGV tests.  The successful passing of the LGV test is part of the National Vocational Qualification Level 2 – ‘Transporting Goods by Road’.

Prerequisite for courses

Category C1

Must be a holder of a valid provisional licence issued by the DVLA and be in possession of a pass certificate/letter for Driving Standards Agency (DSA) theory and hazard perception tests for LGV drivers.

 

Category C.

Must be a holder of a valid provisional licence issued by the DVLA and be in possession of a pass certificates/letters for a Driving Standards Agency (DSA) theory, hazard perception and CPC tests for LGV drivers.

 

Category C+E

Must be a holder of a valid provisional licence issued by the DVLA. Candidates that have passed a category C test will have a provisional entitlement for C+E automatically added to their licence.

 

Availability

Dates and times can be arranged to suit your convenience and are based on a 1:1 ratio.  Training sessions run 08.00 hours to 12.00 or 12.30 to 16.30.

 

Cost

From £700 plus VAT, plus current DSA test fees.

 

Theory Test

You are required to take and pass theory tests are indicated above for Category C1 & C LGV before you undertake practical training.  If you already hold a full Category C licence this entitles you to go straight onto Category C+E no theory test is required.

Hazard Perception Extra CD Rom,

Large Goods Driver CPC – the official DSA guide for Professional Goods Vehicle Drivers.

Theory Tests          

£35.00 – LGV theory test

£15.00 – Hazard Perception Test

£30.00 – Large Goods CPC – If you passed your Car driving test prior to Jan 1997 and you have the C1 entitlement on your licence then you do not need to sit the LGV CPC test.

 

We are able to book this on your behalf for a £5 admin fee if you provide copy driving licence.

Documentation

Assessment sheets and individual certificates are supplied upon successful completion as evidence of training and will be issued upon receipt of payment of training course.
