Introduction
The purpose of the Hazard Awareness module is to comply with the legal requirements of the Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road Regulations 1996 (as amended 1999) known as CDGRoad for short, which requires that people other than drivers involved in the movement of dangerous goods receive basic training in the subject. The thrust of the training should be aimed at the candidate’s particular function.
The law requires that this training is confirmed by certification and is noted on the individual’s training record. This certificate is valid for 5 years.
Of necessity, the course gives a very quick overview of the requirements for the handling of dangerous goods, but although it is brief, it is a requirement of the Regulations that relevant staff receive this training.
